Do you want to learn in a group setting and give your dog the benefit of working under real-life distractions and situations while learning to socialize with other dogs? Currently, we offer group coaching sessions for puppies and adult dogs.  Group sessions are usually no more than a total of 6-8 dogs and their owners.  These sessions are scheduled during the cooler times of the year at outdoor venues, in late fall and early spring.

Group Coaching Rates

All group programs are six weeks in length with a total of six one-hour sessions.

• • Six week, 6-hour group training (per dog) @ $175
  • Additional dogs in either session @ 10% discount off total price
  • Note:  If your coaching location is greater than 25 miles one way, we may charge an additional mileage flat fee.

What group coaching sessions are offered?

We offer two group coaching sessions – the American Kennel Club (AKC) STAR Puppy Training and the Great Dog Essentials training.

AKC STAR Puppy Training

The AKC STAR Puppy Training Program focuses on four specific areas to help new puppy parents and their pups develop positive and lasting behaviors that are the foundation for all other learning.

• Socialization: Puppies interact with other puppies and new people in a safe environment to help boost their socialization skills.
  
• Training:  Puppies and their owners learn basic “cues” through positive reinforcement using marker words or clickers.
• Activity:  Puppy owners learn about enrichment and are introduced to new and novel objects, which is a positive way to build a puppy’s confidence and keep them engaged in everyday life.
• Responsibility: Puppy parents learn important ways to keep their puppies healthy and safe and to be responsible pet parents.

The STAR Puppy program offers an optional AKC test conducted by a certified trainer at the completion of the program. Puppies that pass the AKC test are designated as American Kennel Club STAR Puppies.  To participate in the training, your puppy must be under 12 months of age and fully vaccinated.

Great Dog Essentials Training

A well-mannered pup is a joy to be around! We work with you and your puppy/dog to learn several essential cues for manners and positive communication.

This program enhances the bond that owners have with their dog(s). Essential cues taught in this program include Attention, Sit, Stay, Recall, Down, Leave it, Loose Leash Walking and Polite Greetings.  Additional fun cues like Target, Place and Impulse Control Games are included.

This training also focuses on enrichment: brain games, mental stimulation, puzzle challenges, tricks, and enrichment. These terms describe a fun, positive approach to burning off extra energy while learning.

All training is done using Positive Reinforcement.  The training program completion is punctuated by each dog owner teaching their dog a trick demonstrated for everyone. To participate in the training, your dog must be at least seven months or older and/or STAR Puppy graduates.
